Family Upset – Received Graduation Cake Made of Styrofoam from Walmart

(THE AEGIS ALLIANCE) – PASADENA, TEXAS – A family is upset after saying they received a graduation cake made of Styrofoam from a Walmart in Pasadena, Texas.

Marsy Flores said she wanted to have the perfect high school graduation party for her daughter.

“This is my baby, and she was graduating, so it was very important to me,” said Marsy Flores.

According to Flores, when she tried picking up the graduation cake during the morning of the day of the ceremony, she ran into a problem. Flores said Walmart had lost the order of her two-tier cake.

“They didn’t have our order. They didn’t have anything ready,” Flores said.

After that happened, Flores says Walmart offered to give her a different cake at no charge. Flores picked out a smaller cake and the Walmart bakery placed some adornments onto the frosting.

Flores figured the party would be back to normal and go as planned, but then realized there was another problem after she cut into the cake, and realized the cake was made of Styrofoam underneath the frosting.

“They can’t replace the moment that we lost. It’s a special moment, and this is what we got for it, a Styrofoam cake. Not only did they mess up one time, they did it twice,” said Marsy Flores.

Walmart gave the family a $60 gift certificate after they notified the bakery of what happened.

Walmart’s Public Affairs issued a statement, and said, “Incident was a result of a misunderstanding. The matter has been resolved. The customer was given a gift card for her inconvenience.”
