(The AEGIS Alliance) – KERN COUNTY, CALIFORNIA – A man died during a standoff with police, he abducted his 2-year-old son after he allegedly murdered a pregnant woman with a fatal gunshot. The abduction triggered an Amber Alert on Sunday night, according to what officials told Bakerfield’s KGET, and KTLA also broke the news.
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the identity of the man suspected of murdering a Lamont woman as 36-year-old Javier Vidal who was killed during an overnight standoff with authorities near the 2900 block of Taft Highway in Bakersfield. The standoff began with a SWAT team at around 11:35 p.m. on Sunday.
The KCSO has identified the murdered seven months pregnant woman as aged 34 Audreyanna Diana Rivera. Police say it is believed that Javier Vidal shot the woman in a home in the 7800 block of Florence Street at around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday. She was pronounced dead after being taken to the Kern Medical hospital. The 2-year-old baby is currently being treated at the hospital.
