(The AEGIS Alliance) – UPLAND, CALIFORNIA – A former officer with the Upland Police Department was arrested on Saturday for sexual assault. The arrest came not long after he was fired from his job with the department, according to authorities.
The Pomona Police Department released a statement on Tuesday that stated Joshua Duarte, age 31, was booked into the Pomona city jail after he was taken into police custody in Upland.
“At this time, Pomona police investigators believe this to be an isolated incident with no additional victims,” the news release reads.
Joshua Duarte is described by Upland Police Chief Darren Goodman in an email as a probationary officer who had been “released from employment for failure to meet the standards and expectations of an officer for the Upland Police Department.”
According to Chief Goodman, the alleged sexual assault happened while Mr Duarte was off duty. Officials say the case has been submitted to the district attorney’s office of Los Angeles County.
Anybody who has information about this case is urged to call the Pomona Police Department at (909) 620-2085.
