Florida Parents Arrested After Child’s Plea for Help
FLAGLER COUNTY, FLORIDA – Two parents have been arrested after one of their children called authorities with a plea for help. The five children were living in disgusting or unlivable conditions.
Age 42 Betty Allen and age 44 Dennis Allen were arrested according to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office. The arrests were made after authorities discovered that every room in the house was covered in rotting food, animal waste, and cockroaches.
Officials were alerted about the situation when a 14-year-old girl reported she was being physically and emotionally abused by her own parents. The girl’s parents gave her the job of being a caregiver to her four younger sisters and brothers.
“This is a traumatic situation for all of the children involved … I am thankful that these kids are now safe from these two individuals who obviously do not know how to properly care for children,” Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly announced in a statement according to WESH 2.
A rabbit, three dogs, and two chickens were also found on the property by investigators.
