Police on Burglary Call Surround House: Find Deer Instead

LUFKIN, TEXAS – Oh Deer! Police officers in east Texas surrounded a house because they were under the impression that there was a burglary in progress, and instead ended up finding a deer.

The Lufkin Police were called by the homeowner who said she heard the sound of glass breaking. The homeowner then decided to hide inside a closet and came to the realization that he forgot to grab the weapon she left in the kitchen.

The police were concerned the suspect could find and use the weapon.

A video uploaded to Facebook shows the police officers entering the house, and shouting, “Police! Let me see your hands!” The officers then went around a corner in the home and came “face to face with a very frightened doe.”

An officer alerted the other authorities, and yelled, “It’s a deer! It’s a deer! It’s a deer! Stand down!”

The footage of the officers confronting the deer shows chaos inside the home, with the deer frantically trying to find a way out, and wreaking havoc on items inside the house, including breaking windows.

The officers were able to make use of chairs in the house to lead the deer out the front door.

AP reported on this and uploaded a video of the incident to YouTube:
